Horse riders need to be comfortable with what they are wearing, especially during competitive events. We recognize the need for riders to also be protected with equestrian riding apparel.

No matter what discipline you ride, a protective riding helmet is the first piece of equipment you should buy. Get in the habit of putting your helmet on before mounting up and it will become a lifesaving habit. Helmets must be designed specifically for horseback riding.
Keep in mind, however, that a helmet is only safe if it fits you correctly.
A riding helmet needs to fit snugly on your head with little or no movement even when vigorously nodding your head.
Bicycle helmets are not recommended because they are too shallow. Riding helmets today come in all shapes colors and styles and can even be made to fit under a Western hat to protect the rider without losing the aesthetics of the Western event you are in.
